Nori Sesame Crusted Salmon

Toasted sesame seeds and nutty nori pair so well with raw salmon, so why not try it grilled? Last night I was craving sushi but too lazy to venture out in the cold. Yes, it is back to -8 in Toronto! I usually bake my salmon with garlic, but this time I added Japanese spices and whipped up some edamame and soba on the side. Totally different flavour. Totally awesome.

Spicy Nori Popcorn

Weather is warming up and the transition from couch to patio is on its way!!! Over the course of this long Canadian winter, I’ve caved, more often than not, to cold weather-induced munchies: kimchi fries, duck poutine, blueberry balsamic donuts, you name it.  But big taste doesn’t always need to be big on calories. Popcorn is a perfect low calorie sponge for decadent sweet and savoury dressings. Gourmet flavours like truffle parmesan, garlic rosemary, and salted caramel add a kick and only a fraction of the calories compared to their more indulgent counterparts. The recipe below is adapted from Food & Wine and is both delicious and healthy in that 1 cup is only 60 calories and 3 grams of fat.
