DIY Balsamic Reduction

Fancy up good ol’ balsamic vinegar into a glaze to drizzle on fruits, salads and fish. Might as well use the whole bottle because once you try it this way, you’ll never want to go back!

Balsamic Reduction

  • Servings: half of whatever you start with
  • Print

Ingredients:

  • Balsamic Vinegar
  • Option to infuse with herbs: rosemary, bay leaf, thyme, cloves

Let’s go:

  1. Pour your balsamic vinegar (and herbs) in a saucepan and bring to a boil
  2. Lower the heat to medium-low and simmer for 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  3. The vinegar is reduced when it becomes thickened like honey, or reduced in volume by half
  4. Store in an air-tight container and refrigerate

Try this dressing with my Watermelon Salad with Mint and Feta Cheese or Balsamic Grilled Portobello!
